For more than three decades, I Instructed students in reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and technology as a middle and high school English/language arts teacher. I coached students on writing techniques to refine their composition skills, and I taught skills in English grammar and syntax, vocabulary, and proper word usage. Our written work followed the writing process which included time spent on revising and editing. During my career, I utilized a variety of technology and digital tools, including Google Classroom, Blackboard, Abre, Chromebooks, iPads, Smart Boards, Microsoft Office, Meet, and Zoom. I served on a variety of committees and was a team leader, wrote curriculum, and researched new and emerging methods for language instruction and skill-building.

During my time as a teacher, I also worked as our school's librarian. I used library resources to assist students and the general public in research. I managed the circulation desk, ensuring the accuracy of records for all checked-out items. I provided technical support to patrons having issues accessing electronic resources and provided reference assistance to patrons through online resources, databases, and print materials. I inventoried, classified, and cataloged educational media, cataloged books using MARC standards, maintained a budget, and operated and maintained various equipment including computers, media equipment, and copiers.
Power of the Pen Writing Team Coach

Ohio has a statewide competitive writing program for middle school students called The Power of the Pen. I served as the coach of student teams that competed in this program for a decade and a half. We qualified for district, regional, and state tournaments every year I was the coach. I instructed students on writing rules, strategies, and performance. I designed activities that encouraged creative thinking, developed solutions together as a team, and fostered a culture of continuous learning by providing constructive feedback on written performance.

I graduated from the Proofread Anywhere online proofreading course. I completed fourteen online modules and 85 lessons on grammar, punctuation, usage, and proofreading skills and techniques while earning top marks on all quizzes and exams. I proofread dozens of writing samples for grammar, spelling, and formatting errors. I utilized review and proofreading techniques for Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and Pdfs for a vairety of writing authors, styles, and purposes.
